In-home training allows us to customize our programs to fit your dog’s needs. Through this method, we can train your dog to your standards and address the problems you see. If it doesn’t bother you that your dog jumps on the bed at night, that’s your choice. If there isn’t a problem, we won’t fix it. If there is, we’ll address it, and we’ll do it the right way.

If you have multiple dogs in your household, we can train them all at once. If you have a breed with a bad reputation, that’s okay! We don’t believe in judging a dog based on size, breed, age, ability, or temperament. There is almost always a way to communicate with a dog, and we love the challenge of figuring out what makes each dog tick.

The trainers at Second City Dog Training are passionate about dogs, family, and keeping the two elements together. We emphasize trust and communication because that is the foundation for every dog/owner relationship. We don’t want to control your dog. We want to create a lasting bond and a happy home.

Our trainers utilize positive reinforcement training, but we don’t rely on treats (although you’re welcome to give them). We want to make sure your dog will obey your commands even if you don’t have a tangible reward on hand.

A balanced approach is vital because it helps build confidence. Other methods tear that confidence down. Most bad dog behavior is based in fear and uncertainty. Once we eliminate those factors, your dog will begin making the right decisions with little to no guidance from you.
